Overview

Over the past 10 years, ESTA and its associates have carried out assignments on 5 continents and in more than 20 countries. We have worked on-site in South East Asia (Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines), Africa (East, West and Southern), Eastern and Western Europe, the Middle East, South America and China with organizations such as UNHCR, UNICEF, UNISDR, UNFPA, the World Bank, the Commonwealth Secretariat and IFC. We enjoy working in international settings and we are sensitive to the challenges and opportunities associated with management initiatives in these environments.

Sample of Projects

Our associates have led over 100 projects in various international locations. Following is a small but representative sample of initiatives we have undertaken internationally, in our three core areas of practice: strategic planning, change management and learning and development.

  • Balkan Police Force Strategic Planning: ESTA worked with Ministers of the Interior from nine Balkan countries sepca(Bosnia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, SRPSKA, Romania, and Macedonia) to develop the strategic planning and change management skills of senior members of the police community as part of their efforts to build democratic police models. The project included the delivery of over thirty workshops and meetings that were designed and facilitated by ESTA consultants. The sessions resulted in the development of visions and strategic plans for democratic policing in each country and in several instances led to parliamentary endorsement. • Change Management at UNHCR: As part of UNHCR’s change initiative to increase the authorities of itsunhcr regional and field offices, ESTA worked for a two and a half year period facilitating the development of a Global Management Accountability Framework. A field-based, collaborative process was used to engage senior Regional and Country leaders in the design of the Framework and to ensure it supported the goals of decentralized administrative structures. ESTA supported implementation of the GMAF with field introductory workshops and the revision of key job descriptions.  The intervention was carried out in four countries: Switzerland, Thailand, South Africa and Panama. • Learning Programme for UNFPA Senior Managers: ESTA designed and delivered a change management and unfpaleadership development programme for senior staff members in UNFPA’s Philippine Country Office. The programme included distance learning over a four month period, three workshop interventions in Manilla and personal coaching of eight senior leaders. The change management component of the programme focussed on a new reproductive health strategy for the Philippines and involved collaboration with local leaders from WHO, UNDP, UNICEF and the Government of the Philippines.
